Returning from a recent trip to Marrakech brimming with inspiration and regret that I hadn’t taken an empty suitcase to bring home full of treasures, I have been delighted to find the high street awash Moroccan mosaic themed patterns and pieces for Spring. If you are drawn to the Souk style but not sure how to incorporate it into your wardrobe, here’s my pick of what’s out there with tips on how you can work it to suit your shape and budget.

The shops working this trend well are Monsoon, H&M and Marks and Spencer. Catering for those who want the head to toe look to those who just want to briefly nod at it. SYW’s absolute faves? Monsoon’s Jumpsuit, M&S Limited Collection’s fringed kimono or mustard flare sleeve. These and more featured on our Souk Styling Pinterest Board

Harem Trousers aka“MC Hammer” trousers and therefore seen with trepidation? However the patterned trouser can be worn by all shapes. Pay attention to the size of the print, the cut of the cut of the trouser and the weight of the fabric. Those with a boyish slim bottom half opt for the thicker fabric with a more structured jean type cut. Most other shapes benefit from lightweight fabric and softer cuts. To show off a great pair of pins go for those that taper at the ankle. Top half your better feature? go for a straight wide cut.

Don’t be afraid to use pattern its easy if you bear in mind that smaller motifs make everything seem bigger. The rule of thumb – the larger the area you want to wear the print on the bigger the print should be.

Head to toe – This is a brilliant way for those with slimmer boyish figures to create curves. Jumpsuits provide a simple way to do this. Equally mixing and matching separates in clashing prints is very effective, it’s easier to choose complementing colour tones when adopting this look.

Curvy and think you can’t do this, not true. You may not wish to go for the trouser option so try a dress instead H&M Handkerchief Hem Dress or Monsoon’s Lima in Orange.

Footwear – Whilst most authentic would be softest leather slippers,  Metallic brogue style trainers like these ones from Hush, or a Pair of embellished wedges like these from River Island provide a more practical option .

Bring it all together by finishing off with an armful of stacking bangles or some midi rings, the  ChloBo Sundance range has a fab selection.
